I returned to this scene to undertake a large version of this view after doing a smaller piece here previously. A well loved and known view in Wicklow, the lake is often referred to as the Guinness lake, the Guinness family until very recently owned the Luggala estate. The lake was featured a lot in the series The Vikings and it is surrounded on one side by Luggala mountain which towers up over it.
It's a very striking place and much loved. Although a challenge to paint a piece this large on location I do love to do these larger pieces after getting a sense of a place with a smaller work. It's very exposed here and high up so can be a challenge but well worth the effort!

Artwork Details
I use artist grade materials for all my work to guarantee colour vibrancy over time. All paintings are varnished to protect the work using a satin varnish which results in a semi gloss finish.
Original paintings come framed unless otherwise stated.
