Scots Pine, the Scalp - Limited Edition Print
Scots Pine, the Scalp - Limited Edition Print
Limited Edition Fine Art print of Scots Pine, the Scalp. Choose from two sizes, framed or unframed. Both print sizes are limited to a run of 50 and come with a certificate of authenticity.
This is one of a number of pieces painted plein-air on site at the beautiful Forest area of Barnaslingan which is a large hill area in Dublin. The Scalp is a very narrow glacial valley that cut though here in the ice age. As you walk around this forest you go up the track until you come to the top and see the Scalp in front of you the drop goes right down to the road far below that leads to Enniskerry. The huge granite outcrops are full of massive boulders, many of which have fallen down the steep sides of the valley over time. The Scalp comes from the Irish 'An Scailp' which means chasm, it's a really interesting place and one of my go to places for plein-air painting sessions.
This spot here is at the top of the outcrop when you walk out of the trees and come out onto the granite top. It totally opens out here and the views are outstanding. I was really drawn to this Scots pine tree with the opened out views behind it.
