This view was painted plein air on location in Glendalough at the miners village looking back down towards the upper lake with the Glenealo valley behind. The light here is typical of how this beautiful area changes in the winter. Painting here is a special experience and I am always drawn back to this area with its high valley walls and cliffs. I'm especially interested in the huge shadow areas that are cast and created by the landscape here.
The miners village is just behind where I am standing here and I have a painting of that view here.

Artwork Details
I use artist grade materials for all my work to guarantee colour vibrancy over time. All paintings are varnished to protect the work using a satin varnish which results in a semi gloss finish.
Original paintings come framed unless otherwise stated. Frames are float frames and are supplied by Strand Framing in Cork. These can easily be changed if you prefer to have a custom frame job done.
